Nigerian singer and songwriter Bigiano has claimed that he played a key role in the creation of Davido’s breakout hit song, Dami Duro, alleging that he wrote the song’s hook.
The “Shayo” crooner made the revelation during a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, where he spoke about his involvement in the 2011 track that launched David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, into mainstream stardom.
“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I wrote the hook,” Bigiano stated during the interview.
Speaking further, Bigiano addressed his prolonged absence from the music scene, explaining that it was a deliberate decision aimed at preparing for a stronger return.
“Sometimes, you have to take a break to be able to come back again. I went on a sabbatical to make my return to music massive,” he said.
He also dismissed claims that his hiatus was due to financial difficulties, insisting that he remains financially stable. “I can’t be broke,” Bigiano added.
Released in 2011, Dami Duro is widely regarded as the song that propelled Davido to national fame and has since been ranked among the greatest Afrobeats songs of all time by several local and international music platforms.
Despite Bigiano’s assertion, he is not officially credited as a co-writer on the song, and Davido has yet to publicly respond to the claim.
