According to Forbes, the King of Pop topped the 2025 Highest-Paid Deceased Celebrities List, earning an estimated $105 million this year alone.
A major part of the cash surge came from a massive $600 million deal where the Jackson estate sold 50% of his master recordings and publishing catalog to Sony Music.
Since his death in 2009, Jackson’s estate has pulled in over $3.5 billion, making him the most financially successful posthumous celebrity in history.
His Broadway hit “MJ: The Musical” has grossed nearly $300 million worldwide, while his Las Vegas show Michael Jackson ONE just crossed 5,000 performances.
Other big names on Forbes’ list include:
-
Dr. Seuss – $85M
-
Prince, John Lennon & Bob Marley – combined $541M
-
Pink Floyd legends Richard Wright & Syd Barrett – $81M each
Meanwhile, anticipation is building for the upcoming biopic “Michael”, starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson, set for release in April 2026 — expected to trigger yet another wave of MJ influence globally.
