Nigeria provided the United States with actionable intelligence ahead of the Christmas Day airstrikes that President Donald Trump described as “powerful and deadly” attacks on Islamic State militants in northwestern Nigeria.
Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar disclosed this on Channels TV, revealing that he held two phone conversations with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio—one lasting 19 minutes before the strike and another five-minute call shortly before the operation commenced.
The strikes come weeks after President Trump warned against any systemic assault on Christians in Nigeria, underscoring growing international attention on the country’s security crisis.
