After the completion of the Round of 16 stage on Tuesday night, the fixtures for the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations have been confirmed.

Mali secured their place in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso.

The match saw Mali take the lead early on with an own goal from Edmond Tapsoba.

Lassie Sinayoko then doubled their lead with an impressive finish. Burkina Faso responded with a penalty from Bertrand Traore, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Mali from securing their place in the quarter-finals.

In another match, South Africa pulled off a shock victory over tournament favorites Morocco. The Bafana Bafana recorded an impressive 2-0 win thanks to goals from Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena.

The victory sees South Africa progress to the quarter-finals where they will face Cape Verde.

Mali’s win sees them set up a quarter-final clash against Ivory Coast.

Ivory Coast is the favourite in this match, but Mali will be hoping to cause an upset.

In the other quarter-final fixtures, Nigeria will take on Angola, while Guinea will face DR Congo.

The quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations are set to be an exciting phase of the tournament, with the remaining teams battling it out for a place in the semi-finals.
