A man who bears a striking resemblance to Afrobeats star Davido has caused a buzz online after claiming that the little girl, Anu, at the centre of recent controversy is actually his daughter.
In a video circulating on social media, the self-described Davido lookalike apologised to Nigerians while insisting he would soon release evidence to back up his claim.
“Sorry to say this Nigerians, Anu is my daughter. I will drop evidence and proof. I’ve realised it has gone too far,” he said.
According to him, he has been a die-hard fan of Davido for years and is well-known in Owerri as a “big baller.” He claimed the girl’s mother allegedly mistook him for the singer after seeing him at a club in Owerri.
“She saw me and thought I was Davido. I told her I wasn’t, but she was very excited and followed me to my hotel,” he alleged.
The man concluded by insisting the child is his and appealed to Davido for forgiveness, saying, “Anu is my daughter, no be play. Davido please forgive me.”
The claim has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians questioning the authenticity of the story and calling for verifiable proof.
