Hugo Broos, the head coach of the South African national football team, has affirmed his team’s determination to end their campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on a positive note.
The South African national football team could not progress to the final after losing 4-2 on penalties to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a closely contested match that took place on Wednesday night.
Despite missing out on the final, the former champion is determined to put up a good fight in the third-place match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The match will take place at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Saturday.
The Bafana Bafana will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat in the semi-finals and end their campaign on a high note by securing a victory against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“We played a very good game against Nigeria. It was a great performance and we showed that we are a great team again,” Broos told a press in Abidjan on Friday.
“When you exit after 120 minutes, it’s always a huge disappointment. When you play so good, the disappointment is so big. The game tomorrow is special.
“It depends a bit on which team will be mentally recovered because also for DRC, it was difficult to lose like that”.
