A billboard promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contest for office in 2027 has been spotted in the busy Area One area of Abuja.
The billboard boldly hints at Tinubu’s re-election bid and has sparked discussions among passersby and commuters along the road.
It features a picture of the president and his wife, Remi, along with the text “Grassroots support for Tinubu 2027, the 1019 initiative.” It’s important to note that even though the billboard suggests Tinubu’s re-election bid, he has not made any official announcement about running for a second term.
Recall that Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, fulfilling his ambition of becoming the country’s president.
Since his emergence 16 months ago, Tinubu’s tenure has brought a mix of experiences for many Nigerians, particularly following the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the national currency.
These policies have been associated with widespread economic hardship, leading to public discontent.
The frustration culminated in the #EndBadGovernance protests which took place across the country from August 1 to 10.
Calls to the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, were not answered.
He has yet to respond to a text message sent to him on the development as of the time of filing this report.
