The government has denied renaming the Murtala Muhammed Expressway in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to Wole Soyinka Expressway.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that the renaming of the Murtala Muhammed Expressway was never considered by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

The minister clarified a statement issued by his special assistant on media, Rabiu Ibrahim, on Monday, June 17th.
The statement read: “We have noted the rumours being circulated that the Murtala Mohammed Expressed Way in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has been renamed as Wole Soyinka Way.

“The renaming of the Murtala Muhammed Expressway Way has never been contemplated by this administration.
