The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Birniwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Alhaji Talba Diginsa, and his supporters have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
his move was initiated by Diginsa and executed by 360 members of the PDP in the council. The reason for their defection was due to the lack of focus and poor leadership in the state.
Diginsa expressed his disappointment with the executive members of the PDP in the council, citing their inability to provide the necessary direction and support to the party.
As a result, they have decided to align themselves with the APC, which they believe has a clearer vision and stronger leadership.
This defection is likely to have significant implications for the political landscape of Jigawa State, as both parties prepare for the upcoming local government elections.
He added, “We decided to dump PDP despite our positions in the party due to the wonderful leadership and commitment of the present Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Namadi, within just six months he spent in office.
“We are sure Governor Mallam Umar Namadi will succeed in governing the state by looking at his 12 points agenda.”
At Kwanar Dole, the state APC chairman, Alhaji Aminu Sani Gumel, spoke about the party’s willingness to welcome new members who are interested in contributing to the development of the party.
He expressed his gratitude to the decamped members who had joined the APC, stressing that the party is focused on growth and development, and as such, is open to new members who share the same vision.
Gumel assured the new members of the party’s commitment to working with them for the party’s victory in upcoming elections.
He emphasized that their involvement in the party would enable the APC to make significant strides in meeting the needs of the people.
The state APC chairman acknowledged the importance of unity and collaboration, urging all members of the party to work together for the growth and success of the APC.
