Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has denied claims that he is the biological father of a 12-year-old girl, Mitchelle Anuoluwapo, following her public appeal for a DNA test to confirm her identity.
The singer stated that he had already undergone five separate DNA tests at different medical facilities, all of which returned negative results, insisting that the matter had long been resolved.
“I have taken five DNA tests, and I am not her father,” Davido wrote.
He added that he never had a personal relationship with the girl’s mother beyond the DNA testing process and described the recurring claims as false and misleading.
Mitchelle Anuoluwapo, who referred to herself as Davido’s “oldest daughter,” said she made the appeal as she approached her teenage years and wanted clarity about her identity.
In an emotional statement shared online, the minor recounted years of bullying, ridicule, and psychological distress, which she said stemmed from disputes surrounding her alleged parentage.
According to her, she has faced mockery since the age of six for claiming the award-winning musician as her father, an experience that reportedly affected her mental well-being and required professional support.
“As I grow older, I want to establish my identity,” she wrote.
“I was bullied in school from a young age and often came home crying. Other students laughed at me when I said my father was Mr David Adeleke.”
She also disclosed that her social media accounts had been inactive for years on her mother’s instruction, adding that she remained focused on her education despite the challenges.
In her appeal, she respectfully asked Davido to submit to another DNA test to conclusively resolve the matter.
“As I transition into a young woman, I am respectfully asking Mr David Adeleke for a DNA test to establish my identity,” she said.
“This is something I want and believe is the right thing to do.”
She further thanked Nigerians who, according to her, have shown emotional support over the years.
Responding on social media and later on X (formerly Twitter), Davido reiterated that the issue had already been settled, expressing frustration over the continued public claims. He stated that this would be the last time he would address the matter.
The singer suggested that the child’s mother should be held accountable for what he described as persistent and unfounded allegations, while stressing that he does not blame the minor involved.
