Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya (Rtd) has firmly denied any links to individuals allegedly involved in terrorism financing.
The rebuttal, issued in a statement by Brigadier General Sani Usman (Rtd), came in response to claims attributed to Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi (Rtd).
General Yahaya dismissed the allegations as “entirely false, malicious and baseless.”
According to the statement:
“At no point during his distinguished military career, nor before or after his service as Chief of Army Staff, has Lieutenant General (Dr) Faruk Yahaya (rtd) CFR, Zaruman Sokoto, had any direct or indirect association with any person or entity involved in terrorism financing or activities that threaten Nigeria’s national security.”
The statement accused Ali-Keffi of pursuing a personal vendetta, allegedly motivated by disciplinary actions taken during service, and attempting to tarnish Yahaya’s reputation.
It further faulted a media outlet that published the allegations without proper verification, describing the act as “deeply irresponsible.” The claims, it added, run contrary to Yahaya’s impeccable service record, professional integrity, and modest lifestyle.
Yahaya’s camp demanded an immediate retraction and correction of the allegations by Major General Ali-Keffi and all individuals or platforms circulating the claims.
They cautioned that failure to comply would leave them with no option but to pursue legal action to defend Yahaya’s name and honour.
The statement concluded:
“Nigeria’s fight against terrorism requires responsibility, patriotism, and truth—not malicious propaganda driven by personal grudges against those who have devoted their lives to protecting the nation.”
