The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has received notable new members from various political parties, including Francis Igwejiuba, a Harvard-trained educationist and philanthropist.
The defection ceremony took place at the party’s State Secretariat in Owerri, the state capital.
Welcoming the new entrants, the ADC State Chairman, Prof. James Okoroma, praised Igwejiuba’s long-standing contributions to philanthropy and human capital development in Owerri West, describing his decision to join the party as timely and strategic.
“We welcome you to the family with open arms. The ADC is the party to be in ahead of the 2027 elections,” Okoroma said.
“I encourage you to continue working with your people and our leaders. Every polling unit in Owerri West must be fully constituted, supervised, and functioning optimally.”
According to a statement by the state publicity secretary, Chief Macdonald Amadi, the defection marks a significant boost to the party’s grassroots strength in the state.
Igwejiuba, who arrived with a large crowd of supporters and stakeholders from Owerri West, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and commended the party’s leadership for their unity and direction.
“My coming into ADC is divine, and by God’s grace, we shall win,” he said.
“ADC is a brand Ndi Imo can trust. ADC is the light, and light will always overshadow darkness.”
The meeting was attended by top party figures, including Hon. Damian Ezeagu, state deputy chairman; Chief Sir MacDonald Amadi, state publicity secretary; Nze Lawrence Nwadike, state organising secretary; and several other stakeholders.
