The Niger State Police Command has cautioned against violence and thuggery in the impending governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The security office encouraged all agents to behave maturely, focusing that no demonstration of viciousness and thuggery will be supported.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Abiodun Wasiu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), the police warned anyone who does not have any business with the exercise to stay away from the venue.
“The Niger State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public and party actors, that the Police Command and other security agencies in the state have emplaced adequate proactive security measures before, during and after the exercise.
“The police and other security agencies will not hesitate to clamp on any miscreant who may want to use such an avenue to foment trouble during the exercise.
“Parents and guardians are advised to prevail on their wards against being used as political thugs to disrupt public peace or political activities, as anyone found in the act of thuggery shall be dealt with in accordance to the law,” the statement read.
