Super Eagles striker and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has publicly shared how Christ Embassy Church and its founder, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, played a major role in shaping his life during a difficult period.
In a touching personal story, Osimhen revealed that after completing secondary school, he put his football dreams on hold for two years to support his struggling family. As the youngest child, he took up work with Christ Embassy Church, where he says he experienced not just financial support but also care, mentorship, and spiritual guidance.
“Many Nigerians and Africans say the church doesn’t help, but I can’t relate because of what Christ Embassy and Pastor Chris did for me,” Osimhen stated.
He explained that he was part of a group of about 15 young people from his neighborhood who worked in the church, distributing Rhapsody of Realities devotional books. According to him, the job offered not only decent pay but also an opportunity to grow, build friendships, and gain exposure.
“Pastor Chris is a kind-hearted man. He prayed for us, fed us, and provided housing. I lived in the church for about five months, only going home on weekends to see my family,” Osimhen added.
Today, the football star says he continues to support the church financially in appreciation for what they do for their community. He emphasized that while many criticize churches for not doing enough, the charitable works of many churches, including schools, hospitals, and water projects, often go unnoticed.
“They help a lot of people, but we hardly see it on the news,” he concluded.
